Introduction

As an important node city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Jiangmen, embedded in the Pearl River Delta, has a pleasant climate and abundant rainfall. It is a natural testing ground for green buildings. Therefore, at the beginning of the conceptual planning of the project, HATCH introduced the concept of "Ecological Health Smart Valley". This not only complements the vision of the industrial park, but also perfectly echoes China's responsibility based on promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind-striving to achieve carbon peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060.
From a bird’s eye view of the sky, the first-phase architectural settlement constructed by scientific research buildings, expert apartments, living centers, and catering centers are like “Green Terraces” with stepped back terraces. The landscape extends from the ground to the roof, which outlines the south of the Lingnan. At the same time as the regional characteristics, it also creates a good ventilation relationship for the park.
In addition to considering the coordination between the building and the surrounding environment and maximizing the use of natural resources such as light and wind energy, HATCH also strictly follows the British BREEAM evaluation system and China’s three-star green building certification standards, and uses high-level design and construction quality to fulfill the park’s benefits. The promise of sustainable development provides a healthy "microenvironment" for the scientific and technological innovation personnel who will come to work and live here.
However, HATCH's thinking about "green" does not stop there. "To achieve true'carbon neutrality', we must conduct research and analysis on sustainability from the three levels of environment, economy and society."
According to the current progress, the first phase of Zhongke will be delivered by the end of 2021. Today, HATCH dispatches designers to conduct on-site inspections every month to ensure the quality of the building, providing a successful model for the subsequent Phase II and Phase III of China Science and Technology Park, and even China's future science and technology park design.
