Mr. David Wei, Co-Founder/Design Director of HATCH Hanzi Architecture and RIBA China Chapter, was invited to have a dialogue with Dr. Valerie Vaughan-Dick, Global CEO of RIBA on 5th December, which was her first visit to Shanghai on behalf of RIBA. RIBA's strategic focus matches the development trends and challenges of the architectural industry in China, providing a broad platform for co-operation and exchange between architects from both countries. Speaking about RIBA's strategic vision for the coming years and partnership plans with China, she said that architects have a key role to play in reducing environmental impacts, and that she also hopes hopes that all architects and students will value professional membership to ensure that RIBA becomes an important and useful resource for all its members, and to create a more accessible and representative profession. The evening also saw the celebration of RIBA's 190th anniversary at the Portman Ritz Carlton Shanghai, where Dr Valerie Vaughan-Dick joined RIBA members and partners, including Mr. David Wei. It was not only a celebration, but also an event of exchange and inspiration.
